“It Should Feel Effortless to Enter and Comfortable to Work In”: Aradhana Kakar on Designing MSO’s Workspace

“It Should Feel Effortless to Enter and Comfortable to Work In”: Aradhana Kakar on Designing MSO’s Workspace

The MSO South Asia office in Sector 9, Chandigarh, reflects a shift in how study abroad spaces are beginning to function. Designed for a global platform like MSO (My School Offer), the requirement was clear: create a space that supports interaction, not formality.

Aradhana Kakar, founder of Aradhana Kakar Designs, has built her practice over nearly 30 years as an international interior designer based out of Chandigarh, known for her ability to take complete ownership of a project, from concept to final execution. Her work across residential, commercial, and bespoke spaces reflects a consistent focus on clarity, detail, and delivery.

Recognised for her turnkey interior design services, she approached the MSO office by first understanding how the space needed to functionx both during everyday use and high-energy events, before shaping its design.

A Layout Built Around Movement, Not Formality

Instead of following the predictable structure of cabins and fixed seating, the space was planned to stay open and flexible. The idea was simple: people should be able to move easily, sit down where needed, and engage without hesitation.

“I didn’t want the space to feel like a formal office,” says Aradhana. “It needed to feel easy to walk into and even easier to use.”

This became particularly important during MSO’s launch event, “Global Take Off,” where the office hosted interactive activities, discussions, and testing sessions, all at the same time. The layout allowed different things to happen simultaneously without the space feeling crowded or chaotic.

Making the Space Match the Way the Brand Works

A big part of the project was making sure the space reflected MSO’s way of working, open conversations, clear guidance, and accessibility.

“People should not feel intimidated when they walk in,” she explains. “The space had to support honest conversations, not create distance.”

To achieve this, the design avoided rigid divisions and instead focused on visibility and ease of interaction. Materials and finishes were kept controlled and understated, helping the space feel professional but not overwhelming.

Carrying the Design Through to the Final Outcome

The project was handled as a complete end-to-end interior design execution, which meant staying closely involved from planning to the final details on site.

“For me, the job isn’t done at the drawing stage,” Aradhana says. “It’s only complete when the space works the way it was intended to.”

This approach ensures that what is planned is actually delivered, something that continues to define her work in luxury interior design in India, especially for clients who want clarity and follow-through.

A Clear Example of How Aradhana Kakar Works

The MSO office is a good example of how Aradhana Kakar Designs approaches projects. It’s not driven by a fixed style or trend, but by understanding how a space needs to function and then building around that.

As a premium interior designer in North India, Aradhana Kakar continues to take on projects where she can stay involved through the entire process, ensuring the final space feels considered, practical, and true to what it was meant to be.
